Meet with God; Make Friends; Follow Jesus
What is church?
The primary call Jesus gave to his disciples was ‘follow me’. However the disciples were not called simply to an individualistic relationship with Jesus. They were called into a prototype church community.
Throughout the last 2000 years, and around the world, membership of Christian community has found many different expressions. As western culture redefines and re-experiences itself Christians of this generation face the task of shaping and forming the church in M3 (the third millenium); the task of the inculturation of Christianity into an emerging culture; in other words making the faith relevant to a new kind of world.
If Christianity is to flourish in M3 then we have to have some baseline of what makes a church community authentically Christian and therefore a valid expression of being church.
There are 5 fundamentals of being a church community:
Worship
Discipleship
Evangelism
Fellowship
Ministry
