Evangelism

 “His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known...” Eph. 3:10 (NIV)

“Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But how can they call on Him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them?” Rom. 10:13-14

The great commission begins: “Go and make disciples.” This we call evangelism. The word ‘go’ would be better translated ‘as you are going’. As we live our lives we are to preach the gospel and as somebody famous said: if we must we are to use words! It is as we travel into M3 that we will

My favourite definition of evangelism is that of "one beggar showing another beggar where to get bread". From Ephesians 3:10 (above) we see that the purpose of the church is to talk about God, to talk about Jesus and what he has done for us, to make known His wisdom to other people. That is one of our distinctives
 
If we want to make this complicated we could ask: How do we reach across the tribalism of a fragmenting cultural vista with the meta-narrative of creation redemption and kingdom consummation? Or we could simply ask: How do we speak of Jesus in a relevat way to this generation?
